08 May Heart of Darkness with imitating the dog
2018 has been a good year so far, working with the incredibly talented film-maker Morag Tinto on The Many Primes of Muriel Spark then getting the Improbable band back together to take Opening Skinner’s Box to the Wexner Center, Ohio, which is more or less where the whole journey began as we did a fortnight’s R&D there way back in 2015. From a creative point of view it was great to be back, but also a strange kind of deja-vu was experienced on a daily basis as, the last time we were there, a certain Donald Trump was running to be Republican candidate. Everyone we talked to about it said today’s news would be tomorrow’s chip wrappings (or the US equivalent at least). And here we all are. Just.
So all of a sudden it’s May and work has started in earnest on developing imitating the dog’s adaptation for the stage of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness which is exciting, challenging and genuinely carrying a sense of a story that needs telling and needs telling now. More on this as we go.
